Unexpected encounter: Agatha Christie and Honoré de Balzac

What is the probability of finding Agatha Christie and Honoré de Balzac in the same bed? On the face of it, none...

This pair of book holders are not just functional accessories, they also tell an intriguing story.

That’s what amused us at Aricomagic. We chose to combine two samoussins in this offer, a combination that works very well in terms of interior design. That’s when we realised that it created this unlikely literary union.

The Christie Samoussin pays homage to the queen of crime, known for her gripping detective novels, while the Balzac Samoussin salutes the master of 19th century realism.

The fun lies in the fact that these two writers could never have crossed paths on the same stage, as they lived in very different eras. Agatha Christie, born in 1890, shaped the world of mystery in the 20th century, while Honoré de Balzac, born in 1799, left his mark on the 19th century with his major works.

Agatha Christie was born in 1890 and died in 1976. Honoré de Balzac was born in 1799 and died in 1850. There is therefore a difference of almost 100 years between the two authors.

Agatha Christie is one of the world’s best-known novelists. She is best known for her detective stories, including the Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot series. Honoré de Balzac is a French writer considered to be one of the greatest novelists of the 19th century. He is the author of many novels, including “La Comédie humaine”, a vast fresco of French society at the time. Personally, I’m a huge fan of Agatha Christie, and I was lucky enough to visit her holiday home at Greenway House in Devon.

Contrast between two eras and two literary worlds

It’s hard to imagine what these two authors might have thought of each other had they met. Agatha Christie was an incredibly modern and independent woman, while Honoré de Balzac was a conservative and misogynistic man of his time.

I also had the opportunity to visit Honoré de Balzac’s house in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. I think he would have enjoyed a holiday in the fresh air in Agatha’s beautiful home.

Both embody different eras. It’s fascinating to imagine what these two literary geniuses would have thought of each other if they’d had the chance to meet. For us, this Samoussin Christie and Balzac Book holder Duo Valentine’s Day gift symbolises not only the love of reading, but also the diversity and creativity that transcend the boundaries of time.

For a memorable Valentine’s Day, choose a gift that transcends the conventional. The Samoussin reading cushion Duo is much more than a simple accessory. It’s a declaration of love for reading, for literary diversity, and for the history that unites two distinct eras. Give your Valentine a gift that will stay in his or her heart, just like the timeless stories of Agatha Christie and Honoré de Balzac.

Make this Valentine’s Day a special chapter in your love story, celebrating your shared passion for reading with the Samoussin Duo Bookholder. A gift that transcends time and, like love, becomes eternal.
